Wales & West Utilities celebrates 11th RoSPA award

Monday 16th September 2024
Wales & West Utilities is celebrating after Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) announced it has been awarded its 11th consecutive gold award for its exemplary health and safety performance.

The gold RoSPA award was presented in recognition of the gas emergency and pipeline service’s industry-leading health and safety performance and commitment.

Wales & West Utilities looks after the pipes that keep the gas flowing to heat the homes and power businesses of 7.5m people across Wales and south west England. They operate the gas emergency service, connect new homes and businesses, and upgrade the gas network so it’s safe today and ready to transport green gases like hydrogen and biomethane.

Rob Long, Chief Operating Officer at Wales & West Utilities, said:

“We’re delighted to have been awarded our 11th consecutive gold award for our world leading safety record.

“This award is in acknowledgement to everyone in our business and reflects their dedication to continually strive to meet the high standards that we set ourselves.

“Health and safety are at the heart of everything we do. From responding to gas emergencies and supporting the most vulnerable to making sure young people know all about carbon monoxide, the safety of our colleagues and the communities we serve is a top priority for us.

“We are proud of our commitment in doing everything we can to keep people right across Wales and south west England safe and warm, delivering safe, reliable and affordable energy services today, while investing wisely to create a sustainable, greener future.”

The RoSPA Health and Safety Awards competition is the largest occupational health and safety awards programme in the UK. The awards is one of the most prestigious and recognised schemes in the world with almost 2,000 entries every year, nearly 50 countries and a reach of over 7 million employees.
